How to Spring Clean Your Thoughts

Posted by Renee & Tiffany on

It’s so easy to forget that your most sacred home is your own mind. It’s in this space where your thoughts start to become real. And it’s easy for everyone, our team included!, to lose connection and groundedness in our thoughts. Our thoughts become unmanageable, and we over-index on our most stressful feelings, while under-prioritizing the steady, calm voice we know is within. But, here at KIM+ONO, we have always felt that the steady, calm voice is never too far away. Sometimes, it just takes a little bit of spring cleaning to dust off the cobwebs of our old cyclical thought patterns, in order to make way for something brand new.

Easier said than done! But, one thing we’ve learned over time is that it’s okay to work from the outside to the inside. Sometimes just reminding your body that you are part of nature, you belong here, and your physical experience has so much to offer you, is enough to shift your inner world, too. Something a little magical happens when you slip into self care you can wear at the end of a long day. Your shoulders drop. Your breath deepens. You remember, without even trying, what it feels like to belong — to yourself, to your space, to the quiet rhythms of the earth. That’s the power of a beautiful ritual designed to bring you back to earth. And it’s the reason we designed each of our floral robes not just as garments, but as pieces of self care you can wear.

You have made it through a few seasons of life. You know now that peace is found in presence. And that elegance and comfort can coexist. You know that the way we clothe ourselves is part of how we care for ourselves. So into today’ journal, we’re sharing five mantras as gentle reminders to come home to your body and your place in the world. Spring is here, and it’s time to welcome to our mind thoughts that are brand new.

Mantra 1: Connection Is All Around Us

It's easy to forget, in the scroll-and-scroll of our digital lives, that connection is something we can feel — literally feel — in the warmth of the sun on our face, the softness of our favorite floral robe brushing our skin, or just the way the wind moves through the trees and into our lungs. Connection isn’t just something we aspire to create. It’s already here. It’s all around us. Whether it's sharing a slow morning with your partner, lighting a candle that reminds you of your grandmother, or wrapping yourself in a plus size kimono robe that brings you a physical sense of peace, you are surrounded by invitations to connect.

Mantra 2: Nature Is Your Home

Nature isn’t beyond you. You don’t have to hike a mountain or swim in a glacial lake to reconnect with it. You can take off your shoes and stand barefoot in the grass. You can open a window and feel the breeze. You can feel the sun on your face. Our floral robe designs pay homage to the natural world and the quiet power it has imbued to daily life across centuries. There is serenity in chrysanthemum petals, elegance in the blooming cherry blossom. To wear nature’s motifs is to remind yourself: you are not separate from nature, you are of it. Let this be your permission slip to make your life feel a little more grounded. Add plants to your windowsill. Take a walk without your phone. Drink your tea outside, even if it's just on your front step. Wrap yourself in a plus size kimono robe made from natural fibers, handcrafted with care.

Mantra 3: You Have a Place in the Bigger Story

You’re not just living a life, you’re writing the story of your life. Every day you choose the next chapter with your choices, your boundaries, your rituals, and your style. That’s why we celebrate butterfly symbolism in so many of our designs. Because you, like the butterfly, are part of an ongoing story of change, beauty, and becoming. And when you wear something that honors that the only real constant in this world is change, it can help you connect beyond this chapter, to the bigger story you’re writing. Our kimono style robes are inspired by centuries of tradition, brought into the present with a modern, wearable aesthetic. By choosing pieces rooted in artisan craftsmanship, you’re not just dressing yourself — you’re connecting to a story that has spanned centuries. Each and every kimono style we make keeps a generations-old cultural art practice alive. That is no small thing. It’s a daily decision to honor yourself and the world you move through, understanding that we are all connected through our past, present, and future.

Mantra 4: Time with Loved Ones Is Time Well Spent

We know you're busy. There’s a never-ending to-do list, people to feed, emails to answer, maybe even a school project involving googly eyes due tomorrow. But the truth is, the time we carve out for connection is the time that fills us back up. It can be simple: put your phone down. Turn on some music. Share a cup of tea or a glass of wine with someone who sees you for who you are. And don’t underestimate the small details in those moments. When you wrap yourself in a plus size kimono robe that makes you feel like your most whole self, you signal that this moment matters. Our floral robes are made to be lived in. Lounged in. Lingered in. Mark the important everyday moments with your kimono style. Wear your plus size kimono robe to make breakfast on a Sunday morning with your kids. Or to curl up on the couch for movie night with your bestie. Being with (and in tune with) the ones you love is never a waste of time.

Reset your thoughts by reconnecting with nature. Whether you’re stepping outside barefoot to greet the morning or curling up with your journal as the sun sets, know this: you are part of something beautiful. Connection, nature, love, and care — they’re not esoteric nice-to-have ideas. They’re here, right now, waiting to be felt. And sometimes, the most revolutionary thing you can do is to feel at home in your own skin.
